NFF shifts league elections to next year

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says the much anticipated elections into the boards of the leagues will now take place next year.
General Secretary of the NFF, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi who revealed this to Sports Vanguard yesterday said with the conclusion of the Annual General Assembly (AGA), the next issue is to conduct the elections.

He also used the opportunity to debunk insinuations in certain quarters that the NFF wants to ensure that certain people do not return to the leagues assuring that the federation will not interfere with the exercise.
Elections will take place in the Nigeria National League (NNL), the Nation Wide League One and the Nigeria Women League.

“With the successful conduct of the AGA, I can now say that the next thing on our mind is the elections into the various league boards; but that realistically will only be by next years after the forthcoming celebrations.”
The scribe who also gave the NFF high marks in its activities this year noted that the sterling achievements of the national U-17 and the U-23 teams in the FIFA cadet world cup and the Under 23 Africa Cup of Nations is the icing on the cake.
He equally denied reports in certain quarters that the NFF plans to cut down on the number of national teams insisting that the double header success of the U-17 team world cup in 2013 and 2015 is s direct result of the U-13 and U-15 teams.

However, Sanusi regretted that due to dwindling resources the football house could not carry out most of its planned activities.
